PLYMOUTH FIRE STATION 2 PROJECT

The Town of Plymouth has 7 fire stations. In recent years the town has experienced several issues with their fire stations.

The oldest fire station built in 1911 at 0 Spooner Street in North Plymouth was replaced with a new North Plymouth Fire Station at 15 Hedge Road in 2020. Before the new station was completed, the old station had to be vacated on Nov 6, 2019 when a portion of the floor failed. Apparatus had to be relocated (E7 to Station 1) until the new station opened on July 13, 2020.

About the same time, in October 2019, some long needed roof repairs were being done at the Headquarters Station 1 at 114 Sandwich Street occupied around 1978. The ceiling collapsed and made the station uninhabitable for a period of time. A trailer was located on the station site to support a crew and some apparatus had to be relocated to other stations. Administrative offices were temporarily moved to the Cedarville Station 6 until repairs could be completed.

In early 2020, problems were uncovered at the West Plymouth (Seven Hills) Station 2 built in 1975. It was determined that the station needed to have work done on that station as well. A trailer was placed on site for personnel. It was determined that the station needed major renovations of the living space and ultimately the original living space was torn down and is being rebuilt. Some apparatus has been relocated during construction.

Looking ahead, a major renovation of the Manomet (Station 5) is also planned and is expected to begin in Summer 2023.

Renovation of Station 2 completed and operational in July 2024.

was opened around 1975.

A major renovation of the station was begun in 2022
with a trailer being placed on site and apparatus moved
to other facilities.

In 2023, the old living quarters was torn down and construction of
the new living quarters began,

STATION 7 NORTH PLYMOUTH
The North Plymouth Station 7 is expected to open in July.
Paving and final touches are being completed.

PREPARATION FOR RENOVATIONS
A portable trailer was brought in to the West Plymouth Station to house firefighters
during the renovation of the living quarters at Station 2.

LIVING QUARTERS
The original living quarters in this space will be torn down.

One of the apparatus bays was partitioned off to provide for construction space.

MAJOR RENOVATIONS
The entire living quarters of the station will be removed and replaced by a new 2 story addition.

There are 3 double deep drive through bays which typically house
Engine 2, A Spare Engine, Breaker 172, A Spare Breaker, Tanker 2, and Ambulance 2.
The repair shops with about 3 bays is located on the rear of the building.
